Slowest....blogger....ever....

When I began this blog - it was meant to be something of a diary.  A journal of my family and the cool "goings on."  But today...a few years since my last post...I realize that that will never happen.  But you know, that's okay.  It's still fun to look back at where my brain was at a few particular points in time.  Since my last post - many things have happened.  Families grow, interests change, history shapes itself.

My beloved kitties - Spencer and Molly - have been replaced with a wild, ferel kitty named Hazel.  She is really Sophie's cat.  But Hazel follows me around, bites me, scratches me, begs to go out, pleads to come in.  She is loaded with personality, and now that she is a full grown kitty.... she thinks she runs the house.

Dewey dog is now 14 years old.  He is quite an old man.  His teeth and hips are bad, but he gets around pretty fine.  I think he is going to live forever.

My darling Sophie the Pooh - at 15 - is nearly grown.  She hit her head on the cement floor while in the 6th grade, and has had quite a struggle ever since.  But she is a strong one.  Fierce.  Tough.
She is going to be okay.  Her life is altered, but it's a shift in the path.  That's all.

My little man Isaac is no longer my little man.  He now stands 2" taller than I, and growing steadily.
I can't believe he will be ready for high school here in a few months.  He is kind and giving.
He is slowly learning that having autism is a gift of sorts.  His path was shifted from toddlerhood.
But I think he is maturing into it.  He has discovered that there are some perks to being different!!

Two of my grown sons are married.  Whoa.  And of all things - on Christmas day, 2014 -
I became a grandmother- of the most adoreable baby boy twins!   What can be better than that?

My job has changed - a few times.  But I am now in a place where I really, really enjoy my
work.  I will be happy to stay here for a few years - and then we shall see.  I would rather be
retired and playing with some cute twins that I know.

So, at the rate that I go - I will probably be back here when those twins are in kindergarten.

Happy Pi Day, peeps.  3.1415  Yeppers.  Cool.

Where has the year gone?

Wow. It's been a year since I posted. I was just reading that my daughter was turning nine. Now her little brother is turning nine - in a week. Where did this year go? It was busy - chasing kids, working, hiking, chores...the good, the bad and the ugly.
This last week I watched Julie and Julia....a fun movie - gotta love Meryl Streep - I forgot that I WASN'T actually watching Julia Childs!! But the girl, Julie, who blogs throughout the movie, got me to thinking about this one - and though I only really write this as a bit of a journal for myself - I actually have to post, if I want something to come back and read!
So, this year, both my little ones have learned to swim. Both made it through another trying school year. Both have made huge jumps in maturity (yes!). My 0ldest got his first apartment all by his big self (even though he moved closer to home! **grin**). #2 son, still here....his mother is beginning to wonder about the serious signs of hoarding (**bigger grin**). #3 son graduated from college - WHERE did that time go??? And the job hunt begins! So, this momma is wondering if the house will be a bit emptier after this next year. (***biggest grin***).

And now - I just want a little break in the heat so I can go plant another letterbox!!!

Traveling with Children

I'm about to embark on a bit of an adventure with my two youngest offspring.
I think I'm insane...or at least, I know I soon will be. Many hours in the car...traveling north.
I can't wait to go - it's always fun...and I am busy packing my tylenol...ear plugs...plastic bags...(for the barf)...benadryl...dramamine...bigger ear plugs....

The upswing to a long drive??? Many letterboxes along the way!! Woo-hoo!!!
It WILL be an exciting drive!!!! And if I'm crazy at the end of it...who will know, really??
Some things never change.

Peep....

Well, I have 12 little pre-peepers cooking away in my living room. Our little chickens should hatch right around Mother's Day. That will be exciting. I am hoping for at least a 50% return on my $2.50 investment. Woo-hoo!! Today is day three. I have not been successfully able to "candle" the eggs yet, but I plan to try again. Perhaps this afternoon I will try one, when I next crack the incubator to flip the precious gems.

Happy Birthday, Baby Girlie

My sweet, adoreable baby girl is having a birthday today. Nine years old. She spent much time today in timeout. Sweetie girlie. Lots of screaming. Almost lost the priviledge of a birthday party. I had the phone in my hand....ready to start dialing the mother of the first name on the list....NO, NO, NO!!! she screams.....PLEASE NO!! I'LL BE GOOD, I PROOOOMISE!!!!!
Well, I guess she did her best. Uh-huh. She still looks like a beautiful little angel when she's asleep. Happy birthday sweet one. I do love you so.

Molly Cat, Molly Cat

It's Halloween. Molly cat was very ill. She followed right down the foot steps of her brother, Spencer. It was kidney failure all over again. Today, we say goodbye to our sweet, little Mollycat. Sweet dreams, dear one.

Who's the Crazy One Here??

Well, I am now an official county employee, and substitute teacher.
What was I thinking? Tomorrow is my first assignment... and I have a couple of cold feet.
I also went on another job interview... I haven't done that in about twenty some odd years. The little ones are nervous... what if they have to go to.... " day care" ... oh no!! It's like they have some idea of daycare as big green monsters with scales that will force them to eat stuff like meatballs and sausage and make them scrub floors with toothbrushes... hmmm... gives me some ideas.

ps - I bet you can't guess what darling daughter ate for dinner tonight....

(if you guessed Duck A la 'orange - you'd be wong...
if you guessed spaghetti noodles... well, you know her pretty well by now)
